Please pray for Miracles in Africa director Willie Turner, he has been fighting cancer and has a tumor in his hypothalamus that is hard to be reached with radiation. He has been fighting it for about a year now. There are still projects that he desires to finish in Africa particularly in Kenya at the Chebwai school and the “Promise Land” project. These projects will have to be brought to a halt since as of now he is unable to proceed. We know that God has a plan in store, and ask of your prayers for the Miracles in Africa projects and Willie Turner. Thank you for viewing our videos and your support.

To: Willie Turner

Dear Willie Turner,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We at Chebwai thank the Lord for you and our brethren in the United States of America. Thank you for what you have done and what you are doing towards Chebwai.

We are very grateful for the donation we received towards the dining hall building. We received 3500 US Dollars through Pr Remi Wafula. Thank you and may the good Lord bless you.
We have spend the money as follows:

$2700.00 USD
Deposited at the hardware shop for the purchase of iron sheets

$730.00 USD
Splitting the timber for roofing

$70.00 USD
Transporting the Timber

Current Needs
We are still however in need of funds, since inflation has made the cost of items and commodities to go up greatly.
We still need the following amount:

$4800.00 USD
More iron sheets

$143.00 USD
Roofing nails

$1429 USD
Other nails, materials and miscellaneous

$1290 USD
Labor

$290 USD
Transporting items

TOTAL: $7,952.00 USD

Internet Services Needed
We are currently using a slower server that hardly does commendable work.
Our proposal for this service is divided into two:

Long Term
Under the long term the internet provider will charge $1000.00 USD. This is more reliable and fast.

Short Term
Here the internet provider is charging $430.00 USD for installation.

Thank you very much and may God bless you as you continue to serve God by giving.

Yours Sincerely,

Helping Africa
The statistics are alarming, the images are provoking, questions are continually in the air and still no one clearly has an answer to the poverty in Africa.

Brief Overview of Beginnings
When Miracles in Africa began working at the needy schools of Africa one would cry at the conditions the young people were living in. One would mourn at the bathrooms they cleaned in, and the kitchen they were to eat from. Zimbabwe was where we began our work. We tried to help as much as we could and wherever possible. A tractor was purchased, cows were purchased, farming tools, buildings were refurbished, etc. We praise God for the work that has been done, and it is continually advancing.

The Work Going Forward
Recently we have been working at the Chebwai Secondary School in Kenya. We are overfilled with joy at the donations you have sent. In the time we have been working there much has been accomplished through your help. It is our goal at least to help with the poverty and lack in the schools. Our hope is that the parents send there children to school so that they can be fed and nourished while getting an education that will prepare them for the future to come. We have been updating photos of progress in Kenya, and will continue to do so.

Our Thanks
To those who have donated, thank you. Your help is very much appreciated by the Miracles in Africa team. It is our utmost goal to make sure your donations are only used in the advancement of the work in Africa. Below is a recent post received from the principal in Keyna at the Chebwai Adventist College expressing thanks for the supplied support of MIA.
My sincere apologies for not writing again yesterday as I had promised. Its all because I could not drive back there. But thank God today we are on line. So far at Mauya, one barn is almost complete on the renovations. What is still outstanding is completing the steps up the balcony, putting floors, and glassing. Otherwise the biggest task of putting the deck was accomplished successfully. The assistant treasurer will assists with working out a proper budget on the cost of renovating another barn and then we can send it to you. We are trying our best to come up with the figures as soon as possible. Otherwise we are fine.

7 June 2003

Dear Elder Turner

I am writing to update you on our projects at Nyazura High School

Right now on our irrigation project, we have a crop of beans that we are almost harvesting. We also have five hectares of wheat that is under irrigation right now. We are planning on a crop of potatoes, which will be on by the time you come. Our one problem is the diesel at times; otherwise our engine can pump at very high pressure

Our Junior Girls’ toilet plan was approved by the School Board and already we have bought some cement for it. We are now planning to buy the other building materials. However the quotation we gave you at first for the toilet was $4,000,000 Zim. The money you sent to us of $400 USD — will change to $800,000 Zim. That means on the toilet bill we have a short-fall of $3,200,000. The bill might even be a little more because when we got the quotation in March, things were much cheaper than now, because of the high inflation rate.

When we last communicated about the dairy cows, they were about $200,000 Zim at Solusi. Now we cannot get them from there because of an outbreak of foot and mouth disease. We are trying to source them from other places where the cost is twice as much. Prices in Zimbabwe are sky-rocketing everyday and its not surprising that we may manage to buy only two from the $400 you sent to us. All the same, we appreciate greatly. If we should add another five dairy cows, then we would need another $600 USD the exchange rate is $2,000 Zim to $1 USD.

I will give you more details soon.

Greetings!

Dear Elder Turner

Greetings from Zimbabwe; Africa.
We are expecting you in a few day’s time. I hope the trip will be successful one.

I have written to update you on the latest developments. Our dairy cows have given birth to three heifers. This has now made a total of 9 (five in milk, 3 baby heifers and one bull) Unfortunately one milk cow contracted an infection soon after delivering and a few days afterwards we lost it. It was a sad experience to lose such a productive animal. We do regret the loss. At first we almost thought that it was foot and mouth disease but the veterinarians inspected the carcass and other animals and confirmed that it was not. We have taken all necessary precautions to protect our herd.

We collected the money that you sent through Western Union without any problems at all. Thank you very much. The money has already been paid to the agent for processing. We hope things will materialize in a few days.

When I contacted Pastor Nzuma, it appeared that he had no intention of bringing you to Nyazura right away. You will be attending other campmeeting’s along with him, before he brings you to Nyzaura around the 18th of August. Our camp meeting begins on August 24 to the 31st.

We wish you a save travel as you journey to Africa.

Yours Sincerely,
